Unity in Christ

Unity in Christ is such a beautiful, humbling experience. At Restoration Gateway, the unity in purpose among the RG workers, kids, and visiting teams can be seen each and every day. Teams come in to serve God's kingdom and they are met by a community serving God's kingdom. Bonded together in Christ, Restoration Gateway and the teams that come are making a difference – changing lives and changing a community one step at a time.

Last weekend, this unity was displayed so wonderfully during an Outreach day lead by a team from New Heights in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Packing up the van, the team headed to the local village of Okweche. However, they did not go alone. A dozen or so RG teens came along and a couple other Ugandan RG staff. Dividing up into smaller groups with at least one RG teen in each group, they set out on foot towards the many mud huts scattered across the countryside. The language spoken by the community is Acholi, so the teens from RG came to lead the way and to translate. However, it quickly became clear that these teens didn't just want to translate and prevent the Americans from getting lost. They came with a burning desire to tell the Ugandans in the Okweche community about Jesus. In boldness and courage these teens lead the way, lead the conversations, and lead the gospel into this community. Side by side, the American team and the Ugandan teens prayed with the community and shared the gospel. It was amazing to see what their unity in Christ was accomplishing. Without the teens from RG, the American team would have not gotten very far – relationally or spiritually with the people from the village. And with the American team, the RG teens had a chance to be mobilized and motivated to go into the community. Thus together, the Lord moved in powerful ways – and the Lord continues to work through the unity in Christ at Restoration Gateway.

“Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.” Philippians 2:1-2
