Mobile Medical/Dental/Evangelism Unit makes its debut at RG – June 2010

Funds were recently donated to Restoration Gateway to acquire a semi truck to be used as a mobile medical/dental/evangelism outreach until A visiting team launched the Mobile Unit in a village deep in the bush a few weeks ago with great success. Many people have been touched physically and many more spiritually with more than 100 decisions made for Christ. Please read the following excerpt from the team’s testimony of the first outreach on the Mobile Unit.

“The first clinic was out in the middle of nowhere along a dirt path, as Dr. McCall jokingly says is 50 Km past the great commission! I was the only doctor but we had two nurses and we would see 50 – 60 patients before it got dark. There was all sorts of pathology and very challenging as we had no diagnostic capabilities. We did bring medicines and medical supplies for wounds and other needs. While that was going on, the rest of the team was busy with a lot of other stuff. They kept the throngs of people organized, had teams praying for healing (more on that later), gave testimonies, shared the gospel, played with the many kids (including soccer, face paining, teaching them songs, doing Bible story skits) and developed relationships. It was amazing to see how everybody pitched in to do their part, using their giftings and talents as none of this was scripted beforehand and we were the first to use the truck. Then, once it got dark, we hung a screen from the top of the truck and showed the Jesus film in their own language of Lwo. After a time of invitation, we would pack it all up and head back, getting in at 10:00 PM.

Needless to say that by the end of those 6 days we were exhausted but God did some amazing things which is what kept us going. Medically what we could do was limited but we were able to truly help a lot of people and they felt really blessed because we were there. Those we could not help medically or could not get to due to time constraints, we prayed for. And God was gracious as our team saw Him heal 10 – 12 people and three major healings. One was a man who had an old hip fracture and could barely walk with a crutch. He left without the crutch walking on his own and left us the crutch. Another man could not hear or talk. He left with partial hearing and speech, but even more importantly left with a new life in Christ. A third lady came in having not walked in 5 – 10 years and left able to walk with only a little assistance. Praise be to God!

A number of other people gave their lives to Christ as our team shared the gospel with them. Several of our team developed relationships with some of the older teenagers who spoke English and were able to go over some discipleship lessons with them. Four of them even walked to the RG site on Sunday and wanted to be baptized which we did. The Jesus film is very powerful and after seeing it, many others responded to the gospel message (well over 100)”

Report from Short-term Team led by the Sudans

(Received 7/5/2010)

Yesterday we got back from our trip to Uganda and by all accounts it was an amazing time. Our purpose (which we feel was God’s purpose) was to bring the love of Jesus to the people of northern Uganda through a holistic approach. We did this by meeting their practical needs with medical care while at the same time meeting their spiritual needs through discipleship and evangelism. Here is how it went.

For the first 6 days, this was our routine. We met with the Restoration Gateway workers for devotional time at 7:30 AM and then had breakfast and met as a team for worship, devotions, vision casting and practical stuff for the day. We then had an hour or two of free time before an early lunch and then off to a local village for a medical clinic (three days in Mon Rowsh and three days in Kamdini). Dr. McCall had bought a semi truck and had it reconfigured so that its sides could be lifted up by hydraulics and we drove that to the sites and held clinic inside the truck. The first clinic was out in the middle of nowhere along a dirt path, as Dr.

Four of them even walked to the RG site on Sunday and wanted to be baptized which we did. The Jesus film is very powerful and after seeing it, many others responded to the gospel message (well over 100). I’m sure some were not real decisions, but we tried to get as many names as possible and Winnie from RG will be following up on them.

The last few days we slowed down a little and spent most of our time at the RG site doing various things to help them. This included working on broken equipment, shredding the grass, teaching them how to do Excel spreadsheets, developing relationships with the Ugandan workers, encouraging the long term team staff and catching the vision God has for RG and northern Uganda. Our team was really incredible. I could not have hand picked it any better. We had 5 older adults (all from out lifegroup) and 5 younger adults and we needed each one to do all that was needed, including their individual skill set. We all got along famously and nobody complained about the long hours. We reviewed the prayer points we had sent out and all were answered!!!

After months of waiting, Restoration Gateway has been approved to officially begin orphan ministry. Of course, God’s timing is always perfect, and we thank each of you for your prayers, encouragement, and gifts that have been instrumental in this process. We are now ready to receive at least 56 children. Please pray with us as we identify children, moms, social workers, teachers, and other needed personnel. We know that God already has specific people in mind. Thank you for partnering with us as we rejoice and praise God for furthering His Kingdom in northern Uganda.

“To God Be The Glory . . . . . ...

“To God Be The Glory . . . . . Great Things He Has Done!”

In 2009 God used the hands and feet, prayers, and resources of so many people to carry on His vision for northern Uganda at Restoration Gateway (RG). Record numbers of volunteers…over 200…came to directly minister at RG in 2009. Thousands heard the Good News of Jesus Christ, and hundreds made decisions for Him. Churches were planted as Ugandan workers and volunteers administered the love of Christ through evangelism, medical/dental care, optometry, basketball camps, vacation Bible schools, and a myriad of other acts of kindness and love in the name of Jesus Christ.

Record amounts of construction were completed:

the first 7 of 35 orphan homes

the first of 2 water towers that provide good water for the growing RG community

the Oaks of Righteousness School auditorium/gymnasium/administration/computer lab

the first 3 of 4 classroom block buildings brought to roof level

a garage for RG’s 2 passengers vans, dump truck, boom truck, and tractor

The new tractor made it possible to clear record amounts of the land for construction and planting, as well as to level a regulation size soccer field.

A new satellite system and wireless internet has been put in place and should be brought online in the next month.

A Look Ahead . . .

God has given a vision for even “greater expectations” in 2010, as at least 3 families and a number of singles are preparing to join the long-term RG family, and many volunteers are preparing to come.

The first annual pastor’s conference will be held at RG February 1-6 for 100 Ugandan pastors.

Plans are being formulated to have an even larger conference on bringing the Kingdom of God to every domain of Ugandan society. This will involve many leaders in northern Uganda.

A new mobile medical/dental/evangelistic ministry will be launched from RG into northern Uganda with the provision of a modified 20-ft. freight truck that will also help with the transportation of materials for building the RG community. Thousands will hear the Gospel through this ministry.

The next 7 orphan homes will near completion.

Construction will begin on the hospital/dental center.

The second water tower should begin, as well as RG power needs being met.

Believe with us for a fulltime Christian radio station to be launched for northern Uganda in 2010.

These are just some of the things we see on the horizon for 2010, and we are fully persuaded that God will provide more than we can ask, think, or imagine…to Him be the glory!

We pray that God will fill your 2010 with the wonder of Himself as you continue to seek Him.

In His love,
The RG Family
Tim and Janice McCall

Friends of Restoration Gateway,

Now is the perfect time to share with you how God is moving at Restoration Gateway (RG). 2009 has brought much growth and opportunity for RG. This year alone:

Hundreds of Northern Ugandans received access to medical and dental care.

Hundreds of children from local villages learned basketball skills and saw Christ’s love demonstrated through the sport.

50+ people were baptized.

A tractor was donated and shipped to Uganda, which has allowed more land to be plowed for further development.

The first pod of orphan homes is complete and the second pod is now under construction.

The school auditorium is near completion.

Ugandan workers continue to learn job skills, are afforded the opportunity to learn English and have grown in their Biblical knowledge and relationship with the Lord.

300 volunteers visited RG…assisting with construction, outreach to local villages, and more.

All of this and much more took place this year. It is with great anticipation that we wait to see what the Lord will do in 2010. Our prayer is that you will join us this coming year in fulfilling the Lord’s vision for Northern Uganda.

Thank you for allowing God to use you in mighty ways through prayer and giving. There are many ways that you can partner with RG: pray commitment, visiting RG, financially supporting the work of RG through a one-time or monthly contribution, and/or serving as a representative for RG in your church and community. Please return the enclosed response card and let us know how God may be leading you to “get involved”.

May the Lord bless you and yours this Christmas season!
